A reminder that the amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure go into effect today (Dec. 1, 2006). In honor of that event, Howard Bashman has yet another article at law.com: "What Do the Federal Appellate Procedure Rule Changes Mean for You?"
California practitioners should also note that the most recent amendments to the California Rules of Court will go into effect on January 1, 2007. The rules are being completely reorganized and renumbered. For example, the rules about publication of appellate opinions will now be numerically adjacent to the rest of the appellate rules—definitely an improvement.
