I attended yesterday's argument in County of Santa Clara v. Superior Court (Atlantic Richfield Co.), but I have not yet had time to write up my report. Meanwhile, the U.S. Supreme Court has handed down two decisions of interest over the past couple of weeks:
- In Purdue v. Kenny A., ___ U.S. ___ (April 21, 2010), the Supreme Court addressed calculation of attorneys' fees in federal civil rights cases, and in particular, the propriety of lodestar enhancements. Blawgletter has an interesting post on the opinion, and this was my prior blog post on the case.
- In Stolt-Nielsen S.A. v. AnimalFeeds Int'l Corp., ___ U.S.___ (April 27, 2010), the Supreme Court addressed class arbitration.
